2 SPORT ▪ all forms of physical activities which are usually governed by a set of rules (fair play) ▪ purpose of sport: improve physical ability, provide entertainment to participants, fight against obesity… ▪ sports organizations: IOC, ASOIF, AIOWF, ARISF, IWGA, GAISF. ▪ Advantages: better mood, normal weight = good figure, less aggressive, healthy lifestyle… ▪ Disadvanteges: paucity free time, sportpeople are often injured, bad marks in school...

3 SOME KINDS OF SPORTS

4 INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPORTS ▪ Indoor sports: indoor athletics, darts, floorball, gymnastics, indoor soccer, table tennis, snooker, squash, dancesport... ▪ Outdoor: skiing, snowboarding, diving, golf, windsurfing, canoeing, baseball, downhill skiing…

5 SPORTSMAINSHIP ▪ is an attitude that strives for fair play, courtesy toward teammates and opponents, ethical behaviour and integrity, and grace in victory or defeat ▪ Grantland Rice: that it's “not that you won or lost but how you played the game" ▪ Pierre de Coubertin: "The most important thing... is not winning but taking part”

6 CHEATING ▪ Result are predetermined ▪ Participants can break rules in order to gain advantage ▪ Sportpeople are taking drugs and doping ▪ Violence in sports involves crossing the line between fair competition and intentional aggressive violence
