Newcomer Welcome March 23, 2011

MASFAP Beginnings In April 1967, a group of financial aid administrators and business officers from Missouri junior colleges and four year schools met informally. First planned meeting was held in June 1967 at Lincoln University. Membership voted to create MASFAP. – No formal constitution – No mission and no funds

Beginnings Meetings were held twice a year at different institutions. Newsletter was created in 1968 with donations of $22 from the attendees. Membership fee of $10 was assessed in 1969. First constitution was written and approved in Fall 1969.

Growth In 1971, MASFAP grew enough to hold its first conference at the Holiday Inn in Osage Beach Rooms were $11.23 and the registration fee was $8.50 including meals!

Constitution Change In the 1980’s the Constitution was changed to allow for lenders to be Associate Members. There was initial concern, but the impact of lender involvement has been positive. Associate Member financial support has assisted with many conference activities and has enhanced MASFAP.
