9. Weekly Homework Homework consists of: – Individualized math practice tests – Individualized reading word club levels – Individualized reading book bags – Reading log – Optional computer games and activities – Spelling dictation sentences Homework is due on Thursdays.

10. Fluency Math Tests These are a series of math tests that builds fluency skills. These tests are untimed. Lion Cubs This club focuses on addition and subtraction math facts to 20. There are four tests. Tigers Club This is a more advanced club consisting of four tests covering addition, subtraction and multiplication facts ( 2’s, 5’s and 10’s).

11. 200 Word Club Words This is a first grade individualized reading program focusing on common sight words. Our trained parent volunteers run this program. Your child’s reading levels will be recorded each week on their homework cover sheet. For those who enjoy a challenge, they will learn the 400 Word Club words!

12. Phonics: Short Vowels I can read short vowel words. (cat, met, nut) Phonics: Blends I can read words with blends. (blend, camp) Phonics: “H” brothers I can read words with the “h” brothers. (ch, wh, th, sh) Phonics: Suffixes I can read words with endings that have s, ed and ing. (looks, looked, looking) Sight Words (Word Club words) I can read up to the 50’s Word Club words. Sight Words (Word Club words) I can read up to the 150’s or higher Word Club words. Phonics: Long Vowels I can read words with long vowels. (Cake, mule, woke) Spelling in My Stories I can spell grade level words correctly in my stories. Writing I can write a topic and concluding sentence in my stories. Important Highlights:  Please send a healthy snack for our afternoon recess and let your child know what it is.  Wear comfortable shoes on our P.E. days Mondays, Thursdays and every other Wednesday.  Homework is important. Please make sure it’s returned on Thursdays.  I have duty immediately after school on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings. I can meet with you afterwards by a prearranged appointment.  Thursday Envelopes: Please read and return the envelopes every Friday.  Closed campus. Unless I hear from you, all students will be released at the front of the school at the end of the day starting next week.
