2. The Book of Proverbs Chapter 2:5-11 The Rewards for Pursuing God’s Wisdom, Pt. 2.

3. Vs. 1-4 are three “if” statements exhorting the child of God to pursue His Wisdom.

4. Vs. 5-8; 9-11 and 20-22 are three “then” statements telling us of the rewards for pursuing God’s Wisdom.

5. Only after intense desire, earnest prayer and diligent study, with willingness to believe what God has said and obey what He has commanded, do we find the true knowledge of God.

6. We do not always discern or understand the implications of Bible doctrine when we first learn it.

7. Many times our understanding of doctrine is not fully realized until after we have applied it in a temptation or crisis situation.

8. Mat 13:44, “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

9. 1 st Reward, Vs. 5-8: 1. Summary, vs. 5, Two things we receive:

12. 2. Substantiation, vs 6-7a, Free grace gifts of God stored up and given to you as a result of pursuing His Word.

13. 1. Wisdom - Doctrine ready to be applied.

17. God stores up and gives these treasures to you so that you are successful in both the spiritual and physical life.

18. 3. Result, vs. 7b-8, The application of Divine norms and standards resident within your soul will protect you from sin and temptation each and every day.

19. 2 nd Reward, 9-11 1. Summary vs. 9, You will “perceive intelligently”, with good judgment and insight.

23. 3. Result, Vs. 11: This is our moral character protection.

24. a. “Discretion”, careful, prudent and sensitive behavior, and the right or ability to judge or decide.

25. b. Discretion and reason from Bible doctrine applied skillfully in life will guard your mind, soul and body.

26. Being wise does not mean to possess a certain quantity of understanding, since knowledge does no good unless it is used, that is, applied correctly.

27. As we guard or treasure, the Word of God in our soul, God through His Wisdom will guard us in our daily walk.

28. As we pursue God’s Word, we will be rewarded with edification of our souls and right relationship with both God and man.
