2 PURPOSE To describe the educational programs of Faculty of Nursing, Burapha University, in responding to the needs of registered nurses holding a master degree in nursing (non-APN graduate degrees) and in related fields (non-nursing graduate degrees) so that they are qualified for advanced practice nurses. 4 THE DEVELOPMENT OF APN IN THAILAND Thailand Nursing Council promulgated the regulation concerning advanced practice nursing in 1998. The present numbers of advanced practice nurses are still far behind the target set by the National Commission of Nursing Education of Thailand. 19 Lesson Learned from Our Approach Additional training program for nurses with master degree in non-APN program is essential to increase the numbers of APNs in health care system. 20 Lesson Learned Continuing education for APNs in a variety of topics is needed e.g., Evidence-based practice.
