Spain Comes into Play Spain defeated Taino forces in 1511. In 1902 Spain’s control on Cuba was relinquished. They forced many Taino people to work. Many died.

I would like to visit Cuba because… Cuba looks beautiful. I would love to learn more on Cuba’s history. Cuba has a lot of historical sites I would like to see.

Map and Flag on Cuba The background is the map. The flag is there ---------------------> Cuba is located in the Carrabin Sea 90 miles from the U. S. The capital is Havana.

Fun Facts Cuba is the 105th largest country in the world by total area. Cuba is famous around the world for making top quality cigars. No Cuban will ever have to worry about having to schooling, food, or health- they are all readily available and free.

More Fun Facts The official name of Cuba is the ‘Republic of Cuba’. Pico Turquino, soaring to 2,005 m, forms the highest point in Cuba. Cuba has over 200 bays and 250 beaches to explore, making it a haven for tourists who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

Cuban Nationals Butterfly Jasmine is the official Flower of Cuba. It represents purity, rebelliousness and independence. It flourishes in humidity. It can be found in the wild along river banks and lagoons. It is also a favorite garden flower. The national Bird of Cuba is the Tocororo, or the Cuban Trogon. The colorful climbing bird's red white and blue plumage matches the colors of the flag. The National tree of Cuba is the Royal Palm. Again reflective of the Cuban People it is a strong tropical tree, able to survive the storm force winds of hurricanes.
