Warm Up #60: The United Nations was created in 1945 in response to World War II. The United States, along with many other countries in the world, decided the main purpose of the United Nations would be Settle problems between countries peacefully Guard against the spread of communism Stabilize the currency of the U.S. and Europe Encourage trade between countries Objective: Students will learn about life in a communist state after World War II and how the fear of communism lead the U.S. to many conflicts in the decades following World War II. Students will create a graphic organizer about the Cold War and answer questions about life in the Soviet Union. Read pages in the textbook World Cultures and Geography. Answer ALL parts of Questions 1-4 on page 141 in the textbook in your notebooks or a separate sheet of paper. Write a paragraph explaining what the Cold War was. Information for the Cold war can be found on page of the textbook. (4-5 complete sentences).

Read Pages in the World Cultures and Geography textbook about the history of Vietnam War. On page 453 Answer all parts of questions #1 and #3. Once you complete the questions START the timeline activity to create a pictorial history of Vietnam.

(#6) EACH square should explain in detail EVERYTHING you have learned about EACH WAR! Use notes your notes and textbook to give a complete picture of each war.
