3 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Ballerup Presidency Priorities General economic situation and difficulties for European municipalities influence on the Network The two Presidency priorities: – New Members – Extension of the ECN interest in the member organisations

4 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING New members Getting new members in the ECN is important for the future work and running of the Network. Work out strategy for getting new members Pernik a new member Possible new members from – Portugal – The Netherlands – Germany – England – France

5 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Extension of the ECN interest in the member organisations The cooperation and knowledge sharing within ECN should be beneficial and fruitful to all type of staff in the ECN organisations. Professionel Networks & Knowledge sharing – Legal advisers – Security Issues – Economy issues - Bench marking – Drug addiction

6 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Strategy & Action plan 2011-2014 The ECN 3-year Strategy- & Action plan expires 2010 The strategy plan to be headed by the new Lisbon Strategy: Europe 2020 as the overarching framework in the network collaboration. Four focus areas – Efficient and effective local governments – Economic development/competitiveness – Green Edge Cities – Citizen and youth participation

7 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Projects InnoHubs. – Meeting in Loures in September and in Getafe in November. Update by Annika Londono. Youth Participation Project – Youth summer camp about ‘Democracy & Youth Influence’ to be held in 2011 Staff Sport Clubs/Europe For Citizens – Planning an international sports event/competition in 2011 with attendance of staff sports clubs/colleagues from ECN municipalities New Comenius project – The Comenius project has ended Schools interested in starting up new Comenius Project Urbact – The “Urbact” project proposal will be discussed further at the seminar Friday

8 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Website www.edgecitiesnetwork.com. launched www.edgecitiesnetwork.com ECN website is very important – both to existing members, and as a way to present the Network to possible new members

9 ECN BIANNUAL MEETING Assistance to the Presidency Susanna Rafn employed as co-ordinator/assistant to the presidency of ECN starting 1 st of July 2010. The main role of the co-ordinator is to support the presidency in current affairs, ensure continuity and push issues forward. The appointment will be evaluated after a year, and decision about continuing the post in future will be taken by the Steering Group.
