You will be able to: Explain what life was like in the colonies. List examples of rights colonists valued. Connect values of colonists to your values. What tools we will use to learn: PowerPoint, Notes Sheet, questions, writing

2 You already know: 1.The 13 Colonies were settled by the British. 2.Before the REVOLUTIONARY WAR, the colonists were subjects of Great Britain. 3.Each colony was very different, but they shared qualities that helped shape our government today.

6 Colonists were… Self-Sufficient Provide for their own needs. Worked together to achieve a common goal. Ex: grew food, made medicine, wove cloth, built homes

9 Today’s BIG IDEA: Make a Connection Your life is very different from the life of the colonists, but you probably share many of the same values they did! Many of our “American Values” came from the struggles of the colonists! Pick an “American Value” from the list below and write about what it means to you.
