9 Students Setting Goals All students will set goals with their teacher this year. They will set at least two academic goals and one behavior. Goals can include, math, reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, organization, etc.

10 What will this look like? Student goals are written and posted in classroom. They offer a year round bulletin board that is interactive and meaningful. Teachers model how to set and develop goals

11 Week 1 Help students identify their goals. Each grade can decide how they want the goals to look. (paragraphs, sheet, basketball,etc.) SMART Goals Goals should be posted around the room. (Bulletin Board, etc.)

13 Sample-Grade 4 This year I want to accomplish many goals. The first goal I have set for myself is to turn in all of my homework on time. Last year, I had a lot of problems with homework. I will accomplish this by writing down my assignments in my planner everyday, checking with the teacher when I am not sure about assignment, and I will try to keep my papers organized in a binder so I don’t lose my work.

14 Sample-Kindergarten Goal One of my goals this year is to learn all of my letters and sounds. Right now, I know 10 letters and some sounds. To reach this goal I will pay attention to my teacher, practice at home, and ask questions when I am confused.

16 STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES Students facilitate meetings between the student, their teacher, and their parents for the purpose of 1) reviewing educational progress, 2) setting goals, and 3) securing parent help with goals.

20 Student Portfolios Keep samples of student work for each subject. Try to add a piece from reading and math each week or so to have a good selection to choose from. Students can also select work they wish to share. Two weeks prior to the conference, teachers and students select sit and review their goals and each select work that will help them show their progress towards goals. Students along with Teacher input, will write a reflection on their progress. This will be the support their preparation for the students led-conference.
