Math My Math A letter will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. Homework will be assigned most nights Math facts should be studied at home on a nightly basis

Literacy Focus upon the Common Core Standards Balanced Literacy Approach –Novels and Supplementary Material with exposure to all genres –Daily 5 framework during class time –Emphasis on traits, feelings, summarizing, sequencing, conflict/resolution, plot, setting, prediction, cause/effect, main idea, theme, inferring, and figurative language –Small group work paired with individual conferencing –Nightly independent reading

Dismissal Dismissal is at 2:45 Please make sure your child knows their afterschool plans before leaving in the morning. If you are picking up your child, you must come into the cafeteria and sign him/her out.

Conferences November 14 th and 15 th –No need to sign up! Please come on your assigned day. Wednesday Evening 3:30pm to 6:30pm –Last names A-L Thursday Evening 3:30pm to 6:30pm –Last names M-Z

Achievement Testing This year, fifth graders will be taking three achievement tests: –Reading –Math –Science Testing will take place during the last week in April. You can go to the Ohio Department of Education site for practice tests.
