3 This lesson is an English Language Arts lesson for Kindergarten. This lesson follows the Ohio Content Standards and the Ohio Common Core for Kindergarteners. The Standard this lesson covers is: Strand: Reading: Foundational Skills Topic: Phonological Awareness Standard Statement: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). a. Recognize and produce rhyming words. Learning Objectives: After the completion of this lesson, children will be able to recognize and produce rhyming words.

5 A rhyme is a word that has the same sound at the end of the word. Example: Bee Tree

11 Rhyming words have the same ending sound. These are words like dog & frog, cat & bat, or bee & tree. If words do NOT have the same ending sound, they do NOT rhyme.
