2 A pt present to the ER c/o pain in RUQ that radiates to his right shoulder. He has had a weight loss of 15 pounds over the last month. He states he is unable to eat without getting nauseated. His lab work is unremarkable. Vital Signs are normal, no fever, no chills. On exam, patient has marked tenderness on abdominal exam over RUQ. Bowel sounds are present and active X 4 quadrants. Case # 1

4 A 52 year old female present to the ER with terrible abdominal pain. She states she’s had blood/mucous stools for 2 weeks. Now she has diarrhea 10-15 times a day and has lost 20 pounds. CT scan is normal. Physical exam reveals tender abdomen. Case # 2

5 What is his likely diagnosis? What symptoms led you to his diagnosis? What treatment would you expect the patient to have?

6 A 35 year old male presents to the ER complaining of abdominal distention and abdominal pain in the RLQ. Upon questioning him, he explains his pain worsens after eating (especially foods with seeds). He has an increased amount of flatus. He says he has periods of diarrhea followed by constipation. He has a temp of 101.8. Case # 3

8 A 72 year old male presents to the ER stating he has had a long history of the following symptoms: Indigestion Swelling in feet and legs Nosebleeds Abdominal distention Upon examining him, you find the following: Jaundice (more prevalent in the eyes) Abdominal distention which is suspicious for ascities
