Ancient Greece Power Point Exploration History

2 Art in Ancient Greece Greeks wanted all of their art to look perfect.
They began to make their statues more lifelike and made gods look like human beings. Greeks also made pots from clay for carrying and cooking.

3 The Literature of Ancient Greece
Greek literature was divided into different parts. Examples might be epics, plays, and poems. They wrote great and amazing things that are still with us till this day.

4 Architecture of Ancient Greece
Greeks made temples which roofs were held up by stone columns and decorated with craved stone figures. They also built the earliest buildings. Their architecture is barely standing today and almost destroyed.

5 Greek Mythology Greeks believed in many gods.
The mythology was the center of their story telling. One example of their myths was the Odyssey written by a Greek poet named Homer.

6 The Daily life of Greece
The Greeks played physical activities like games and sports which they took very seriously. For food they never ate meat. Greek boys and young men were good friends but could never associate with girls.

7 Greece Inventions "The Greeks of Alexandria and Philo of Byzantium Christ made some thing called a 'thermoscope' it was a lot like Galileo's air thermometer. In 1592 Galileo made a scale with besie out of a tube. They had keys and locks which is shown in this figure.

8 Greece Philosophy The philosophy was divided by three men named Socrates , Plato , and Aristotle. Socrates became first in philosophy. Plato is known as the greatest philosopher of today.

9 Odysseus and Penelope Odysseus and Penelope had a different kind of love. Unlike other regular marriages back then they cherished each other. Penelope was never unfaithful and would never cheat even when people said Odysseus was dead.

10 Love and Marriage Marriage was a business and not a love and faith thing. Women were only good for making children. The husbands could cheat on the wife any time they pleased.

11 The Persian War The Persian war was based on a conflict between the Persians and the Athens. This lasted from 499 BC until 488 BC. In 490 BC the Persians went after the Athens. Many were frighten because they were outstanding fighters.
