1 Welcome to Second Grade and Room 206!!! Curriculum Night September 9, 2015 Please take a sticker nametag, and put both your name and your child’s name on it so that we can all get to know each other!

2 Me  My eighth year at Burroughs, and second in second grade.  Married, two kids – live by Pearl Park.  Taught at St. Ben’s & St. John’s for five years in the Education Department.  Taught at Emerson Spanish Immersion in Mpls. for 6 years.  “Knaus” rhymes with “house.”

16 Star of the Week Each week, we will have a Star Send in the poster (I’ll send it home on the Thursday or Friday before your Star’s week). Come in to read during the week, if you like!

17  Birthdays  MAP Testing: mid-October  On-line conference sign-ups using Google Docs  Mystery Reader signups  Emailing newsletters  “Pulling cards”  Book Bag Maker?  This PowerPoint will be on my website as well… Other tidbits

18  Check your child’s backpack and folder every day.  Help your child complete the homework.  Visit our school: conferences, PTA meetings, school events, volunteering.  Read, read, read!!  Come to the class picnic this fall! What can families do?

19  BRAVO!  Daily volunteer during literacy time (9:00-11:45) and  Science/Social Studies Time (2:00 - 2:40)  Friday Fun  “Take-apart Center”  Parties!!  Book Clubs  Mystery Reader  Special Projects – music, art, dance, woodworking, etc. ***ALL volunteers must view the video online (link on the Burroughs website) and fill out forms – in the office.*** Volunteering

20 Please stay, mill around, visit, and get to know the rest of the Room 206 families. They are really nice people – honest!!!
