4 Categories of Initiatives Content Procurement Models How can we best ensure a seamless procurement experience for customers? – Focusing first on Delivery & Experience components first Content Delivery Models How can we best ensure a seamless delivery experience for end users? – Deep Linking project (single sign-on capability between customer LMS and our site) – Course Cartridges (allowing customers to locally-host some products) – eProduct Platform (architected platform to enhance delivery models moving forward) – Learning & Content Platforms (the convergence of content and learning platforms) Content Experience Models How can we balance support for ideal pedagogy vs. content protection? – Delivery Evolution Initiative (online/enhanced cases; new content formats) – Online Learning Initiative (supporting the use of our products in online environments) – DRM Initiative (evolving our IP protection guidelines)

10 Online Learning Initiative July 2010 Online Learning Summit Requested student-facing case preparation tool Requested training and support for using products in online courses Accomplishments to Date Student-facing Case Analysis Coach tutorial (currently in Beta) Online Learning session within Advanced PCL seminar

11 School Pilots BYU-Idaho and Harvard Extension School – both pilots will have the same basic components: – Webinar overview for faculty facilitated by Bob Kelley (modified version of the Advanced PCL session) – Student use of the Case Analysis Coach – Ongoing feedback from faculty, including posting about experiences on the Teaching Post blog – Post-course debrief – assessment of best practices, lessons learned We then will revise the list of best practices, etc, based on pilot learnings.

12 Online Learning Primer During FY12 we’ll also create an Online Learning Primer that summarizes basic best practices, pitfalls to avoid, etc. It will detail some of the learnings already presented in the PCL session: – Best practices for case-based learning online mirror those of online learning in general – The PCL pedagogy sets the stage for employing many of these best practices – LMS and learning platforms now offer powerful technologies to support collaborative, participant-based pedagogies – There are specific recommendations that can dramatically increase the successful use of HBP materials in online environments
