2  Great writer of the 1500’s  Wrote many very entertaining plays  Was an actor and poet as well  He mainly wrote sonnets as his poetry  His writing inspired many people and films  Is perhaps one of the greatest writers of his and our time

3  Shakespeare was born on April, 26 1564  He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK  His father was like the mayor of the city  Shakespeare was sent to school as a boy  There he learned how to speak, write and read Latin  He did not attend university  He married Anne Hathaway when he was 18

4  Shakespeare wrote many plays  There are four main genres : 1. Comedies 2. Romances 3. Tragedies 4. History Plays

5 Comedies & Romances  Both poke fun at human emotion, while only romances has aspects of tragedies 1. Twelfth Night 2. A Midsummer's Night Dream 3. Romeo and Juliet 4. The Tempest Tragedies & Histories  Histories tell stories of kings of past times  Tragedies document flawed heroes and end in death 1. Hamlet 2. Othello 3. Richard II 4. Henry VIII

6  Great writer of the 20 th century  Was also a script editor and a comedian  Started a website(http://h2g2.com)http://h2g2.com  His writings also inspired movies

7  Born in Cambridge, England  While he was still in school, he decided to hitch hike across Europe  He soon decided to go into the comedian business
