3 What is the Young Adult Program?

4 Becoming a YAP is easy Must 15 to 18 years old or graduated high school Register with NSP

5 Mission The mission of the Young Adult Program is to recruit, educate, and develop those young adults with an interest in the ski industry and ski patrolling by providing an atmosphere that encourages fun, physical fitness, leadership, injury prevention, health and safety education, and personal growth.

7 Why do we have or need YAP?

8 Its an AGE thing… More than half of the registered patrollers in the United States are over 50 years old.

9 YAP = FUTURE

10 What can YAPs do?

11 Registered YAPs Are covered by NSP Have all the rights and privileges that any other patroller does Can become certified in OEC Perform first aid Run toboggans Work in the first aid room Slope side maintenance

12 The question is What can’t they do? Use of power equipment

13 Insurance Company Concerns Provide adult supervision Structured program Patrol policies and procedures Mentoring opportunities They will not increase your rates or drop you because you have a student program
