These features have been collected individually and attributed so as to support use by Geographic Information Systems and other scientific applications. The DNC ® data is formatted for direct manipulation by military systems to provide important data and systems interoperability. When interfaced with appropriate navigation systems, DNC ® will ultimately replace the paper chart for safe navigation by ships of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. DNCs meets the functionality and data content requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Performance Standards for ECDIS.
