1  Elementary Principal’s Report September 10, 2012

2 Gardner Foundation  I was notified on August 24, 2012 that Pender did not receive the requested grant  Applied for it to help offset the cost of the guided reading resources  No specific reason for not receiving the grant was given

3 Guided Reading  After being in the classrooms, it is obvious this program is having a positive impact on our classrooms and students  All teachers are implementing it similarly yet each have customized it to match their teaching styles  After students are benchmarked (Farrington), guided reading groups will be put into place and the LLI program will be put to use  This was a REALLY good addition to our elementary curriculum

4 Reduced Milk Price  We were made aware of a piece of the federal lunch program that allows school districts to offer a reduced milk price to students when no meal program is available  No meal program is available to afternoon preschool students  All other students are able to eat either breakfast and/or lunch  Price per semester  Everyday - $20  Monday, Wednesday, Friday - $16  Tuesday, Thursday - $13  Normal price - $32.50

5 Miscellaneous  AIMSweb testing  September 12 and 13  Grades K-6  Pendragon Hour  Begins September 17  Vicki Smith and Sally Hansen  5 th grade field trip  Ponca State Park  September 14  FFA Farm Safety Day  September 26  Grades 3-6  Homecoming Week  September 17 to September 21

7 Community Job Fair  October 6, 2012  9:00 am to 1:00 pm  Heese Event Center  Sponsored by Pender Economic Development, Inc. and the Pender-Thurston Chamber of Commerce

8 Open House  August 23 rd, 2012  6:00 pm to 8:00 pm  VERY SUCCESSFUL  I would like to thank the Booster Club and all those that helped with the food that was served  I am gathering data from teachers to see how many students were here or represented  Teachers will be given compensation time for this event

9 Bleacher Repair  Completed August 27, 2012  $6,500  Bleachers are now fully operational  1 row was removed during the repair

10 Accompanist  Teri Lamplot has been hired to be the accompanist for the Junior and Senior high choirs  Teri has helped before, and I am glad she is willing and able to help again
