5 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 Australian Space Research Program  $40 million over four years  Develop Australia’s niche space capabilities by supporting space-related research, innovation and skills in areas of national significance or excellence  Supports space-related research, education and innovation activities in two streams

6 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 Australian Space Research Program Stream A - Space Education and Development Grants  Up to $1 million to eligible consortia  Support student projects and educational activities, including international education opportunities and the establishment of national space education programs and centres of expertise for space education  Aim to encourage or facilitate the participation of students in space-related fields of study, research or work

7 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 Australian Space Research Program Stream B - Space Science and Innovation Project Grants  Up to $5 million to eligible consortia  Support collaborative space research and innovation projects involving the development of Australia’s niche space capability in areas of strategic national priority.  International collaboration is encouraged

8 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 2009 International Engagement and Official Representation Space Policy Unit has the policy responsibility within the Australian Government, and is the lead on new space-related treaty negotiations. Current International engagement will remain for now with relevant Australian government agencies, e.g.: – CSIRO & CEOS – Bureau of Meteorology+ CSIRO & GEO – CSIRO & NASA Deep Space Communications – Geoscience Australia & JAXA-ALOS; Landsat Stations, – etc.
