Book report by: Danielle Litvan

Setting & Time The setting is in Katie’s house, The Children's Museum. The setting is also in the Fall, Spring or beginning of Summer.

The Main Characters Katie: brown hair, brown eyes, has a cupcake obsession, & loves her friends. Emma: blond hair, blue eyes, loves to bake cupcakes with friends, & likes her friends a lot. Alexis: orange hair, blue eyes, is always a leader and likes business and being organized, & likes to bake with friends. Mia: brown hair, blue eyes, is a beautiful designer and artist, & loves her cupcake friends. They are all friends, they all like cupcakes, & they all miss each other when they don’t see each other.

Supporting Characters Mrs. Martinez: nice, beautiful, director of Children Museum. George Martinez: son of Mrs. Martinez, has crush on Katie, Katie's best friend. Katie's Mom: looks like Katie, friendly, pretty, dating Mr. Green Alexis’s Mom: looks like Alexis, generous, likes to be organized, neat & tidy. Mr. Green/Jeff: dating Katie’s mom, has a daughter, teaches math at Katie's school. Emily: Mr. Green’s daughter, somehow looks just like Katie, sounds nice & pretty.

Summary Of Plot First Katie and her friends found out that Mr. Green was actually Jeff! Next they had a big cupcake order of 6 dozen cupcakes for the new space exhibit opening at The Children’s Museum. They made beautiful cupcakes. Accidently 6 fell and the icing smudged! Luckily Katie had her cupcake First Aid Kit and the girls fixed the cupcakes in no time! They ran out of the cupcakes when all the kids got one (actually there was 4 more just enough for the girls). They took pictures in the rocket ship and left. But Katie was still nervous - she had to meet Emily, Mr. Green/ Jeff’s daughter. They went to eat an Vinnie’s pizza and Emily seemed nice, but Katie does not know for sure!

My Opinion My opinion of the book is that it is a good book and it should be a 5 star book (*****). It is a fun book to read and has a lot of cliff hangers in the middle and end of book. I think all kids could read this book and it’s not mostly about the club, but it’s mostly about the idea of friendship.

My Favorite Part My favorite part of the book is when Katie was getting ready to meet Emily, and I was curious if she would be nice or if she might be shy or maybe if she was mean. It was very surprising that Katie and Emily looked the same but they also liked the same things. Since it was surprising and I like surprising things it was fun to read.

About The Author Coco Simon is my favorite author. Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she was afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 200 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing. Coco Simon’s actual name is Tracey West. Born October 1, 1965 Coco Simon/Tracey West is 50 years old.
