4 Comet facts: Comets are actually dusty, glowing, ice balls that shoot through space. Many people think that comets either come from the Kuiper Belt outside our solar system, or something called the Oort Cloud. Comets glow because they are using energy from the sun.

5 History with comets: Comets have many nicknames, including “shooting stars” or “dirty snowballs”. Comets used to be considered omens of good or bad things to happen, including war (some people thought comets looked like swords. Can you see why?).
