2. How many small squares at the 5 th, 10 th, nth stage? Work privately first, then with a partner. Find as many solutions as you can. Post your solutions on POSTER PAPER.

3.  Look at the solutions posted by other pairs. As you look at other solutions, if you have a question/comment that should be raised, post it with a sticky note. Post at least one or two sticky notes. (10 minutes)

4.  Time to take off your “student hat,” and put on your “teacher hat!”  Suppose you are going to use the Stair Step problem in your classroom next week. Your goal is to help students make connections between geometric solutions and algebraic solutions to the problem.
