5. HISTORY OF MARATHON Marathon’s history dates back to year 490 BC. Runners run 42 kilometers. There is a legend, which says, that a messenger ran 42 kilometers to say that the Greeks won over Persians and than he died.

6. ROTTERDAM MARATHON Marathon in Rotterdam is the biggest marathon in the Netherlands. It has been the biggest one day sport event for 14 years in the Netherlands. People from the whole world come to the marathon.

7. HISTORY OF ROTTERDAM MARATHON It has been held since 1981. The marathon is held in April every year. The first winner was John Graham.

8. HOW TO MEASURE TIME? Runners have a chip that is placed on a vest with the number of runner. On the track there are sensors that record the time of runners. So you can´t cheat.
