EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 2October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Overview Introduction Scorecard Plans Issues/Concerns Conclusions

EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 3October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Introduction Our Robotic Arm: Replicates normal human dexterity and range of motion Proof-of-concept for prosthetic application as well as test-bed for a mobile robotic arm To create a cost effective and cost conscious arm, that will allow it to be easily affordable in future applications.

EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 4October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Scorecard Previous month’s plans: –Complete internal forearm frame design Wrist joint design “Bone” structure and internal cavity Rotation of wrist –Complete project plan draft What we did: –Drafted Project Plan Schedule and tasks with interdependencies –Discussed internal cavity design of forearm –Defined details for arm design, and narrowed down final details to two options to decide between

EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 5October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Plans Solidify and finalize arm design –Wrist and elbow joint movement, and connection points –Finalize choice of bone structure –Complete preliminary CAD models If time permits look at motion Start on ME Final Report Work on Design Review

EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 7October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Concerns/Issues Concerns/issues: –Servo space requirements - still –Supplier difficulties Possible solutions: –CAD models in progress –Check on getting materials early, and check progress on currently ordered parts

EE/CS 480 Fall 2007 8October, 2007 University of Portland School of Engineering Conclusions Preliminary work is accomplished that allows the project design to be pushed into high gear Project plan has allowed for clearer definition of the timeline between here and the end of April
