Thank you for coming to Samsbiblestories.com and for taking a look at the lessons I have added. These lessons are the result of years of teaching Sunday school at an Elementary level. God has richly blessed me in being able to share His Word with thousands of young people. It is now my privilege to share them with you. Please feel free to use them with your class, wherever God has planted you. The only think I ask is that you drop me a line and let me know who you are and how the lessons are working for you. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. samueldselby@gmail God Bless you, Sam God Bless

Bible Story-time Light the Way/Light the world Matthew 5:14-16

What is The Brightest “Man Made” Light in the World?? The “Sky Beam” at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. At 42.3 billion candle power, the Luxor Sky Beam is the strongest beam of light in the world. Using computer designed, curved mirrors to collect the light from 39 xenon lamps and focus them into one intense, narrow beam that can be seen from space.

Brightest “God made” light in the Solar System? Our own wonderful Sun!

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 Purposes of LIGHT In Bible times… To light the way in the darkness so that you do not stumble or get lost.

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 In more modern times

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 Let’s get back to what Jesus was saying… “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” What do you think Jesus meant by this? Here is another way to look at this…

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 John 8:12 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Whatever light we have to shine before others comes from the Light of the world which is Jesus Christ. It is this light that we are to reflect to the world so that they can see Jesus in us.

Light the Way (salt and light) Matthew 5:14-16 This is where creativity comes in. Jesus is not talking about going to Church or Sunday School and being a good religious person, He is talking about using our creativity to think of ways to reflect Him and His teachings to the world. Sometimes this is done through music, or poetry, or theatre, or art, or literature, or dance, or a thousand other things.

How are you going to shine for Jesus to a world that desperately needs Him?
