17 How Hollywood uses the Web American networks began airing their shows online….

18 Hulu Founded in 2007. Joint venture between NBC, ABC and Fox. Offers free television shows from these networks online. Offers content from more than 220 content partners, including A&E, E: Entertainment Television, PBS, NFL (classic football clips) and many movies. Most popular titles are comedy – Family Guy and SNL. 19 Hulu Needs to monetize! Should it enforce a subscription? Will people still watch? Will things change as people use connected devices such as mobile phones and televisions that are internet connected? Two possible pricing tiers = $4.99 for ad ad-free Hulu, $14.99 monthly for complete seasons of shows and back catalog. SOURCE: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2010-02-03-hulu03_ST_N.htm?csp=hf

25 Facebook Facebook hit third place in October 2009, jumping from number ten from September 2009. Nielsen Vice President of Media Analytics, Jon Gibs, commented on Facebook’s jump in numbers, stating: “During the past year, online video viewing has become central to the Web experience. In conjunction with this increase, we are seeing remarkable growth in video viewing on social networking sites and it is only natural that these two trends would converge in consumers’ minds, making sites like Facebook and Myspace.com, increasingly important distribution points for both consumers and professionally generated video.” (Reisinger, 2009)
