3 Run-On Sentences When two sentences run into each other, they are a run-on sentences. Do not use run-on sentences in your writing. A run-on sentence can be corrected by writing each complete thought as a separate sentence. Remember to use capital letters and end marks correctly. Do not separate the two sentences with a comma. Always listen for a pause when you read the sentences.

4 How to correct Run-on Sentences Incorrect: Our class visited a museum we saw whaling ships. Incorrect: Our class visited a museum, we saw whaling ships. Correct: Our class visited a museum. We saw whaling ships.

5 Which of the following sentences are fun-on sentences, and which sentences are correct? History museums are fun they teach about the past. A whaling museum is one kind of history museum. A whole village can sometimes be a museum. People dress in costumes, visitors can ask them questions.

6 Some famous people’s homes become museums you can visit Paul Revere’s house in Boston. Natural history museums show animals and their habitats. The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum complex, it has fourteen museum and a zoo.
