Results of the questionnaire (a first analysis) out of 20 countries 16 sent questionnaires a total of 18 questionnaires were received 2. Coverage according to EBOPS

3 UNSD/ International Trade Statistics Section 3 Replies to question 21: Major data sources There appears to be a very wide variety of data sources by mode of transportation, type of services and different for exports and imports: Surveys of domestic and international airline agents/ carriers, in particular for passenger services For freight transportation in particular surveys of shipping companies, customs and other administrative sources, estimates and surveys Foreign exchange records Administrative records and surveys of port administrations, and respective service companies Etc. 4 UNSD/ International Trade Statistics Section 4 Replies to question 22: Do you include in Passenger services those performed within your country by non-resident carriers (imports) and those performed outside your country by resident carriers (exports)? All countries follow this guideline. Results of the questionnaire – case study 3: Transportation Replies to question 23: Do you compile exports and imports for freight transportation services in line with FOB valuation of goods According to the replies received all countries follow this guideline.

6 UNSD/ International Trade Statistics Section 6 Transportation – Coverage and definition Comprises 4 types of services provided by residents to non-residents: 1.Carriage of passengers 2.Movement of goods (freight) 3.Rentals (charters) of carriers with crew 4.Related supporting and auxiliary services (cargo handling, storage and warehousing, packing and repacking, maintenance and cleaning of transport equipment in ports / airports etc.) Transportation services – Coverage according to EBOPS
