Printing: Your printer might not print the same way our printers do, so make sure to try a couple of test prints. If things aren’t aligning quite right, experiment with the Scale to Fit Paper setting. It’s located in the Print dialog – just click Full Page Slides to get to it. And did you notice we made fold marks for you? They are really light, but if you don’t like them showing on your brochure, click View, Slide Master, and delete them before you print. Customizing the Content: If you need more placeholders for titles, subtitles or body text, just make a copy of what you need and drag it into place. PowerPoint’s Smart Guides will help you align it with everything else. The website contains many tabs that can be useful. Daily work will be posted under the “Daily Assignments” tab. If your child forgets their planner, this would be a great place to look for the list of assigned work. Our classroom procedures and even our schedule, as well as a link to PowerSchool can be accessed under the “Parents” tab. “Classroom Resources” is an area where you can locate web addresses to aid in learning the material we are covering. Soon you will be able to view pictures of your child and their classmates under the “Photos” tab. Only one signature is required, but DO NOT sign if the work has not been completed. This is for your child’s benefit. They will receive a grade for their planner; therefore, signing the planner will not count towards their grade if work is unfinished. If your child has all of their schoolwork checked off in their planner, please sign the daily entry to indicate that you are aware of this. One point is awarded daily and is only awarded if all work is complete. *Check mark = a completed task *Circled tasks = unfinished schoolwork WB = workbook WS = worksheet Daily Planner Grading A93-100 B85-92 C77-84 D70-76 F69 and below *On a graded task, the student will get the grade that they earn. “Redos” are necessary for learning, but may not change the grade. Corrected assignments will be handed back the last day of the week during “paper pass”. There will be a brown envelope sent home the last day of the week containing these items. It will have the number of papers given during “paper pass” written on the envelope for that week. Please review your child’s work and sign your name on the envelope next to that weeks “paper pass” entry. This then needs to be returned to school the first day of the next school week. 1. Encourage an appropriate work area. A quiet, well lit space is desirable along with a consistent time for homework to be completed. 2. Hand in work on time. Homework is due the next day unless otherwise stated/noted. The score will drop one letter grade each day for late assignments. Please check your child’s planner every day to keep informed of the assigned work. 3. Students are allowed one day to complete homework for every day absent. 4. Please have adequate supplies available at home or promptly replace needed supplies. 5. Get sleep and eat well. 6. ASK QUESTIONS! “What can we work on at home?” Spelling (review weekly study cards) Read for BRs and/or for strengthening skills Study for tests Ways to Promote Success BR = book report ASC = After School Club (a.k.a. homework)
