Relevance – Adding active power to prosthetic knee unit may improve function and reduce overuse injuries in persons with transfemoral amputation (TFA). – Servicemembers with TFA are often young and motivated to perform at high functional levels.

Knee power generated by prosthetic knee unit was significantly greater with PK. Although PK reduced power required from nondisabled knee during stair climbing, it did not appear superior to C-Leg for other tasks.
