5. What is PHeL? PHeL is a gateway - which aims to provide knowledge and know how to public health professionals to promote health, prevent disease and reduce health inequalities. PHeL is part of the National electronic Library for Health - it is one of a number of specialist libraries PHeL is managed by the HDA (after 31.3.05 by NICE) on behalf of the Department of Health

25. The NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH LANGUAGE (NPHL) Will soon supersede the HDA Public Health Thesaurus. A joint initiative between the HDA and the ERPHO’s. Integrates the HDA’s Thesaurus, PHITS and terms from the DH Taxonomy and Government Category List. To be launched in a Public Health and Interoperability seminar on the 20 of December 2004 in London – people interested in Public Health and Interoperability welcome.
