Meet the 2015-2016 Engineering Team

Alex Martin Faculty: Engineering and Ivey Fourth Year Why Western? It's a great university with tons of interesting opportunities and a strong support network. Why LAMP? The mentorship of older students has had a huge positive impact on my time at Western, and I want to pass what I was so fortunate to receive to a new group of students. LAMP 1.0 TEAM LEADER

Andrew Lee Faculty: Engineering/HBA Fourth Year Why Western? I chose Western because of the dual degree program offered by Western Engineering and Ivey. Why LAMP? I know first hand how difficult first year engineering can be. It can be a large transition for most people, so I wanted to join an organization that could ease this difficulty. LAMP 1.0 TEAM LEADER

Ali Abdelhamid Faculty: Engineering Third Year Why Western: Western provides a middle ground between academics and social activities, while still being a top tier school. The supportive environment Western is known for was a key part of my decision. Why LAMP: When I joined Western as a first year student, mentors gave me more than I could've ever asked for. I feel grateful for that and I want to give back that feeling to all the first years coming in to Western. I will try my best to be as helpful as I possibly can to smooth your transition into University life. I hope you enjoy the Western Experience! LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Ryan Alizadeh Faculty: Mechatronics Engineering Second Year Why Western: I chose Western because it has the balance between academia and social life that I wanted in a school, and fell in love with the campus upon visiting. Why LAMP: I chose LAMP because I've tutored all my life, and I enjoy helping people. Also, first year engineering can be extremely overwhelming and I would like to ease the burden on the incoming first years. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Mandolin Li Bartling Faculty: Engineering Third Year Why Western? I chose Western Engineering because of the different dual degrees and clubs offered. Why LAMP? Finding the best path for me in my first year was so exciting, I decided to become a LAMP mentor to help others do the same. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Matthew Podoloak Faculty: Engineering Second Year Why Western? I chose Western because of the phenomenal student experience and supportive community. I knew that Western had an extremely supportive community from having the assistance of Sophs or LAMP mentors and that this support would be vital to my success in university. Why LAMP? I chose LAMP because I wanted to be in a position where I could be a good role model, and have the ability to help first years who are in need of help. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Joshua Reding Faculty: Engineering Second Year Why Western? I chose Western because it was close to my hometown and it had a great atmosphere to learn. Why LAMP? I had a great first year experience, and I chose LAMP because want to bring the same level of awesomeness to the new undergrads. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Tareq Tayeh Faculty: Engineering Third Year Why Western? Western is a brilliant university. It has great education all round and got a lovely campus, one of the best (if not the best) in Canada. I chose to pursue Software Engineering at this university because of the small class sizes and the number of profs available to assist you with whatever you need, and that is extremely valuable and not common to find at top schools. Why LAMP? I wanted to be a LAMP mentor this year because I love helping people and I believe I have the abilities to mentor successfully. LAMP assists first years so much and I would feel accomplished at the end of the year being part of this awesome program! LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Blake VanBerlo Faculty: Engineering Third Year Why Western? Western offered the program that I was interested in during Grade 12, which has a great reputation. Western is highly regarded as a research-intensive public university. In addition, its campus is beautiful. Why LAMP? I was very influenced by my LAMP Mentor in first year. He reached out to me and tried to help make my first-year experience most enjoyable, and provided me with valuable advice. I decided that I would like to deliver the same positive experience to the next generations of incoming students. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Leo Zhang Faculty: Engineering (Software) Second Year Why Western? I chose Western University because of the amazing opportunities and quality of student life that it offers. The dual degree program of HBA and Engineering between Ivey and Western was also the perfect program for me to pursue as I had a passion in both business and technology. Why LAMP? LAMP is an amazing program that has really helped me during my first year. Now that I am in second year, I want to help the future first year students to have a strong start on their university journey with the lessons that I have learned from my own experiences. LAMP 1.0 PEER MENTOR

Jason Ng Faculty: Engineering (Mechanical) Fourth Year Why Western? When I visited Western for the first time, everyone was friendly and the student atmosphere was great for learning and growing on campus. I love the blend of academics, extracurricular teams and social events that continue every year, and the multitude of clubs and teams at Western allows me to get involved and give back to the community. Why LAMP? I had heard about LAMP since first year, but it wasn't until the beginning of third year that I started to get more involved with the program. The concept of helping others through leadership and mentorship really motivated me to get involved, and LAMP provided a place where I could apply and communicate the skills that I had learned to others. Looking forward to being your Team Leader for Engineering this year!!! LAMP 2.0 TEAM LEADER

Haodan Li Faculty: Engineering Third Year Why Western: Western has great resources and strong academic performance. Why LAMP: I would like to share my experience with new students to let them get a better picture of what they will do in their upper year. LAMP 2.0 PEER MENTOR

Ena Mulalic Faculty: Chemical Engineering Third Year Why Western? I chose Western because I love how supportive and inclusive the engineering community feels, and how much the university has to offer in terms of clubs, programs, and other extracurricular activities. Why LAMP? I decided to join LAMP because I saw the positive impact having that support made for my peers in first year, and I wanted to be able to provide that same sort of leadership and support for second years as well with LAMP 2.0! LAMP 2.0 PEER MENTOR
