Theodore Roosevelt  Big Game Hunting brought him to the west In September of 1883.  By the time he got there the large herd was gone by hunters and disease.  Spent some time there and witnessed virtual destruction of big game species.  As a result conservation became one of Roosevelt’s main concerns.

Grifford Pinchot Con….  is known for changing the treatment of forests in the United States  And for advocating the conservation of the nation's reserves by planned use & renewal.  He called it “the art of producing from the forest whatever it can yield for the service of man.”  In 1896, the National Academy of Sciences formed the National Forest Commission.

9. Rachel Carson  An American marine biologist  Conservationist  Author-> “Silent Spring”  full-time nature writer in the 1950s  Aquatic biologist in the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries

10. Rachel Carson  Her book led to a nationwide ban on DDT and other pesticides, and it inspired a grassroots environmental movement that led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
