3 UNeDocs OverviewSlide 3 UNeDocs Project To facilitate international trade by providing a migration path towards paperless trade by: –developing a cross-domain, multimodal cross- border Core Component data model mapped to the United Nations Trade Data Element Directory (UNTDED) –publishing and maintaining a set of UN/CEFACT syntax implementation standards including EDIFACT, XML amd aligned paper document layouts To support maintainable national, regional and industry-focussed contextual implementations by: –delivering Capacity Building Workshops –developing and publishing UNeDocs implementation guidance documentation. 4 UNeDocs OverviewSlide 4 Background 2002: UN/ECE Secretariat and UK’s SITPRO signed an MoU to combine the UN/ECE UNeDocs ‘proof of concept’ project with the SITPRO ElecTra project and to collaborate on the future development of UNeDocs 2005: UN/ECE Secretariat and SITPRO approved the transfer of their joint UNeDocs work into the UN/CEFACT Forum as a TBG project for the next stage of development 2006: TBG2 project team complete first version UNeDocs Core Component Data Model in collaboration with TBG3 Transport Group March 2007

11 UNeDocs OverviewSlide 11 Multi Function Document Types Commercial Invoice Document/message claiming payment for goods or services supplied under conditions agreed between seller and buyer. Self-Billed Invoice An invoice the invoicee is producing instead of the seller. Consular Invoice Document/message to be prepared by an exporter in his country and presented to a diplomatic representation of the importing country for endorsement and subsequently to be presented by the importer in connection with the import of the goods described therein. Customs Invoice Document/message required by the Customs in an importing country in which an exporter states the invoice or other price (e.g. selling price, price of identical goods), and specifies costs for freight, insurance and packing, etc., terms of delivery and payment, for the purpose of determining the Customs value in the importing country of goods consigned to that country. 16 January 2007UNeDocs OverviewSlide 16 Summary A combination of cross-border business requirements collected from the TBG domain Working Groups and the necessary international regulatory requirements collated in conjunction with the WCO, paper-based Convention stakeholders and the Trade Facilitation work of TBG15. A harmonised, multimodal cross-domain data model based on the reuse of the UN/CEFACT Core Component Library plus pre-harmonised contributions to the further development of the Library. The application of a holistic approach which incorporates the deployment of all relevant UN/CEFACT instruments and standards. The development of coordinated implementation specifications for paper, eforms, UN/EDIFACT and XML document formats and structures.
