WMO CIMO/WIGOS Standardization Workshop  Recommendation 1: Strengthening the RICS  Regional Associations ensure that the Regional Instrument Centre activities defined in each Regional WIGOS Implementation Plan are implemented with priority.  Recommendation 4: Metrology assistance to remote sensing community  Regional Instrument Centres should provide support to the surface-based remote sensing community in its efforts to develop traceability of measurements made by existing and emerging remote sensing technologies. ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015

WMO CIMO/WIGOS Standardization Workshop  Recommendation 5: Weather Radars  CIMO and CBS Management Groups seek the support of the Inter Commission Coordination Group on WIGOS to establish a CIMO/CBS-led international coordination mechanism for weather radar systems and their data and products, which involves the participation of nations operating large weather radar networks, capitalizes on the positive experience achieved within regional cooperation mechanisms, such as OPERA and BALTRAD in Europe, and includes a strong focus on capacity development. ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015

WMO CIMO/WIGOS Standardization Workshop  Recommendation 10: Integration (compositing) of observations  That CIMO Management Group review relevant workplans to include investigations, guidance and the use of Observations Systems Capability Analysis and Review (OSCAR) Tool to increase the utility of, and benefits from, observational products derived from the integration or compositing of measurements from multiple technologies. ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015

WMO Revision of the International Cloud Atlas  Text being rewritten (30% complete)  Decision Aid redesigned (95% complete)  Replacement imagery:  Image submission website almost ready.  Letter to PRs requesting candidate images and metadata imminent  Web design to follow.  Still lacking financial resources to build the web- based atlas: voluntary member contributions sought via CIMO Trust Fund. ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015

CIMO in WIGOS Capacity Development: 2014 ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015  TECO 2014 St Petersburg  5 keynote addresses  36 orals  ~80 posters  3 discussion sessions (standardization, centennial stations, future intercomparisons)  Collaboration with ETR and RTCs on content of (numerous) Regional Wkshops on calibration and traceability  Survey conducted on use of mercury and obsolete instruments  Mercury still widely used  Autographic instrument still widely used  Minamata convention (UNEP): Ban on production, import and export of instruments containing Hg from 2020

CIMO in WIGOS Capacity Development: 2015 ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015  Collaboration with ETR and RTCs on content of (numerous) Regional Wkshops on calibration and traceability  Calibration and Maintenance Course (Spanish), Argentina, Q4  Conference on Measurements in harsh environment (icing), in collaboration with RA VI (Europe)  WIGOS AWS Workshops  Further updates to CIMO Guide on use of alternatives to Hg-based instrumentation

CIMO Intercomparisons ICG-WIGOS-4, 17-20 Feb 2015 SPICE (approaching the finish, final data collection underway, report due end 2015) RQQI (in need of restart) IPC 2015 Radiosondes (feasibility study underway) Aerosol and Volcanic Ash (feasibility study underway)
