2 Supply Drop Off Label everything with student name Paper towels, baggies, Kleenex on tables Art shirt and PE shoes in your bin All other items should be neatly placed in your desk. Parents- Verify your email address on the print out located on the little table next to my desk. Sign up for any classroom jobs/parties in the hall. Sign up for a parent/teacher conference time in the hall.

6 Day-to-Day Schedule  8:40-first bell rings  8:50-school starts with announcements  10:30-11:30- specials  12:20-1:00- recess/lunch  3:27-dismissal bell rings

7 Daily Specials 10:30am-11:30am  A-Day: art  B-Day: literacy/P.E.  C-Day: P.E./music  D-Day: computer  E-Day: music/P.E.  LRC Check out: A day afternoon

8 Language Arts CCS (common core standards)  Guided reading, independent reading, and read aloud  Daily 5  Word Work: Word Journeys with a focus on patterns and spelling rules  Writing: Lucy Calkins  Narrative  Informational  Opinion

9 Math CCS (common core standards)  Everyday Math is the primary tool that will be used to address the standards  Nightly homework  Flexible grouping will occur among the third grade team

10 Flexible Grouping  Groups can be formed in any of the content areas and are based on student ability.  Groups are determined through a form of assessment, written or performance based  Groups are fluid, therefore the members in a group change.

11 Rocket Math  Each student has an individualized goal and level  Semester Expectations  1 st : Master all subtraction facts  2 nd : Master all multiplication facts

15 Grades and Report Cards  Elementary report card is in checklist format of skills. B= Beginning D= Developing P= Progressing S= Strength  Daily work will be corrected but there will not be a letter grade assigned.

16 Homework  Your child will receive homework almost every night Homework is… Math homework Nightly Reading for 20-30 minutes Any Unfinished Class Work Additional Assignments

17 Homework Policy  Assignment Notebook will be used to keep track of all assignments  Assignment Notebook must be signed every night  All assignments are expected to be turned in on time, usually the following school day  Missing work may result in one of the following consequences - note home for parent signature - loss of a privilege- office referral
