2 1. Seeds are the first part in a flowering plant’s life cycle. 2. Seeds need: warmth, water, air and soil to begin to grow. 3. Most seeds don’t get what they need to grow. 4. When a seed has its needs met it germinates or sprouts.

3 A seed sprouting looks like this.

4 Animals such as birds, bees, and bats feed on nectar. This spreads pollen to help flowers form seeds.

5 The Spread of Seeds 1. Fruit falls to the ground 2. Animals eat fruit and then it passes through their bodies

6 3.Animals bury seeds and then forget about them 4.Wind and water carry seeds Dandelion seeds 5. Some seeds stick to things(Beggar’s Lice)

7 Plants from Spores Some plants grow from spores-tiny cells. Spores are much smaller than seeds. Most are one celled and can only be seen with a microscope. Spores grow in capsules

8 Making New Plants from Old 1.A spider plant can send out buds on a type of stem called a runner. When these buds touch the ground they form roots and begin to grow.

9 2.Tulips grow from bulbs

10 Making New Plants from Old 3.Some grow from a stem being put into water. 4.Grafting is done when people attach a cut stem of one plant to a slice in the stem of another plant. 5.Potatoes are tubers or swollen underground stems.
