There are several “detail” views of the person selected in the Family Pedigree It is a composite of the multiple opinions of all of the contributing records This is the Summary View.

You can determine the default Summary view by selecting the most appropriate information in the selection

This is the Spouses and Children view, showing the person’s immediate family

This is the LDS Ordinances view. This lists the saving ordinances for this person. In the case of duplicate ordinances, this view shows the earliest case on record.

Improving new FamilySearch One of the consequences of bringing together so many databases has been the frequency of duplicate submissions of records, both for genealogical purposes and temple work. However, by bringing the databases together the process of reducing duplication is finally made possible. With sophisticated information technology, over one-third of the information in the databases was able to be combined together in new FamilySearch, without the need for human intervention.

Improving new FamilySearch (cont.) There are many records where a computer cannot make a good decision when two records are about the same person There are many records where a computer cannot make a good decision when two records are about the same person That responsibility has been given to members to assist in combining duplicate records where they exist That responsibility has been given to members to assist in combining duplicate records where they exist Combining records does not mean that you are agreeing that the information is correct, but that you recognize that the records are referring to the same person Combining records does not mean that you are agreeing that the information is correct, but that you recognize that the records are referring to the same person

Elder Boyd K. Packer The Holy Temple, p. 265 “No work is more of a protection to this Church than temple work and the genealogical research which supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. No work requires a higher standard of righteousness. Our labors in the temple cover us with a shield and a protection, both individually and as a people.”

“The greatest responsibility in the world that God has laid upon us is to seek after our dead. “This doctrine was the burden of the scriptures. “Those saints who neglect it, in behalf of their deceased relatives, do it at the peril of their own salvation.” Joseph Smith, Jr. Journal of Discourses vol. 6, p 7

that they are absolved from further duty. “It matters not what else we have been called to do, or what position we may occupy, or how faithfully in other ways we have labored in the Church, none are exempt from this great obligation… It is required of the apostle as well as of the humblest elder… Some may feel that if they pay their tithing, attend their regular meetings and other duties, give of their substance to feed the poor, perchance spend one or two or more years preaching in the world,

Joseph Fielding Smith - Seeking After Our Dead, Genealogical Society of Utah, 1928, p. 35-36 But the greatest and grandest duty of all is to labor for the dead. We may and should do all these other things, for which reward will be given, but if we neglect the weightier privilege and commandment, notwithstanding all other good works, we shall find ourselves under severe condemnation.”

that all who faithfully attend to temple work will be blessed beyond measure. and great spiritual experiences will distill upon this people.” Vaughn J. Featherstone Mount Vernon Washington Stake Conference Quote in “Temples in the Last Days” by Royden G. Derrick, p. 103 “Your families will draw closer to the Lord, unseen angels will watch over your loved ones when Satanic forces tempt them, the veil will be thin (Emphasis added) “I promise you
