7  Ancient Egyptians were polytheistic.  Belief in many gods and goddesses.  Most gods were related to a specific aspect of nature (ex. god of the sun, god of the Nile, etc.)  Ancient Egyptians also believed in the divinity of the pharaohs.  Part human, part god.  Acted as a middle-man between people and gods.

8  Major Egyptian gods included:  Atum - god of creation  Ra - god of the sun  Horus - god of resurrection  Osiris - god of the underworld  Isis - mother god  Anubis - god of embalming  Set - god of chaos

9  Ancient Egyptians had a very complicated view of the afterlife which included many elaborate rituals.  Many of these beliefs an d rituals are contained the “ Book of the Dead.”  The most important step in this process was the “ Weighing of the Heart.”
