How Do ELA Standards Affect my Classroom?

RST11-12.3 Follow precisely a complex multistep procedure when performing technical tasks; analyze the specific results based on explanations in the text. RST (Reading for Science & Technical Subjects) 11-12 means grade levels 11 and 12 3 refers to standard 3 (there are 10 total)

WHST.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts including the narration of technical processes. WHST (Writing in History/Social Studies, Science, & Technical Subjects) Grades 11 and 12 Standard 2 (there are 10 writing standards)

WHST.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts including the narration of technical processes.

Math Practice Standards and Content Standards Content Standards outline what must be taught in specific courses such as Algebra 2. Practice Standards are “habits of mind” –more about how to think mathematically CTE FOCUS

Common Core Code Math Content Standards F.IF.1 8.F.3 – If the 1 st letter is a letter, then it’s high school A-algebra F-functions G-geometry N-number and quantity S-statistics and probability – If the 1 st number is a number, then it’s that grade level

How Do Math Content Standards Affect My Classroom?

Great ways to learn… (insert your subject) Understand ______ challenges and work until you overcome them. Figure out ___ conceptually or with values. Justify your claims and evaluate the claims of others. Express_____ graphically, visually, and/or physically Use the proper _____ tools wisely. Be accurate, be clear, & use the correct language. Notice the structure and take advantage of that. Notice trends and tendencies to streamline___. © Institute for Mathematics & Education 2011
