13. Why are some sounds dangerous? In our inner ear, there are nerve hair cells which are moved by sound vibrations. These nerves generate tiny electric signals which are sent to the brain. If the sound is too intense the hair can be damaged and do not produce electrical signals and you do not hear the sound
