The Committee, forming a new Government Once the United States of America became a new country, it needed a new government. In 1777, the Continental Congress, in which these men were a part of, met to talk about how the new country should be run. The representatives wrote a paper called the Articles of Confederation.

Articles of Confederation The Articles of Confederation was a paper that said how the government would work.It was going to make its government different than England's. No one wanted one person to have all the power to govern over the people. By 1781 all 13 states agreed on the Articles that were written.

The Engrossed Declaration Major -- No one person has the right to govern over all the people Minor –England was trying to do just that to the American people. They did not like that at all. Conclusion – This is what gave the Americans the right to make their on form of government. A Central Government

A more perfect Union Some of the leaders were not happy with the Articles of Confederation, they felt it was only a loose alliance with the 13 states. Instead of rewriting it they wrote a new paper called the Constitution. It replaced the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution created the strong national government all were looking for.

Parchment and Ink The Constitution is made up of three parts I.Preamble II.Articles I.Amendments
