3 Similes and Metaphors Similes Compare two unlike objects.
Use “like” or “as” Example: She ran like the wind. Metaphors Make a statement about something. Use “is” or “are” Example: He is a walking dictionary.

4 We use them all the time! Mrs. Whitney is a happy camper.
Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow. Be quick - run like the wind. My feet are ice cubes. This bread is as hard as a rock. My desk is buried under my papers. She was as brave as a lion.
