18. 18 Some Personal Experiences  Work: - He was instrumental in our move from UTK to NCSU in 1981.Others too: Moody Chu, Ralph Byers, Bob Funderlic, Ilse Ipsen, Nancy Nichols, Steve Wright, … - We co-authored a paper on iterative methods in 1977, and had some joint NSF projects in the 1980’s. - Carl works carefully and at his own pace. His recent SIAM text was reportedly written over 20 years and involved several publishers.
