On tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd This presentation will take you on tour with the greatest band of all time. Presented by: Kevin Mitchell project number and title date 1-3-11
The type of music that lynyrd skynyrd plays is southern rock. Which is a mix of rock & roll and country. Members: Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, 35 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and halted for a decade by the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band tragically lost Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Hughie Thomasson, yet they rock on.

My #1 favorite song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is… FREE BIRD This is my favorite song because… first of all it has the greatest solo of all time. And the lyrics are just good. What this song means to me is some times you need to explore other places and be free. If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be travelling on, now, 'Cause there's too many places I've got to see. But, if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldn't be the same.
