2 Symbols of Christianity

3 Beginnings Christianity began when a man named Jesus, the founder of Christianity, taught about God and claimed to be his son. Christians worship in their homes through prayer and reading the bible, as well as attending their church (except for Catholicism-holy spirit can only be approached in the catholic church), and the church was originally called a temple. The holy text used in worship is the Bible.

4 Beliefs The view of death and the afterlife differs from one branch of Christianity to another. The most commonly known one is that there is a soul that lives on after the body dies and if you have lived a life of good deeds, then you go to heaven. Living a life of evil results in burning eternally in hell. In Christianity, the main beliefs are that God is the all-powerful creator of everything. Women in Christianity are viewed somewhat higher than some other forms of religion because of Mary and the idea that a man should treat his wife with respect.

5 Divisions There are hundreds of divisions of Christianity, but the most commonly heard ones are Catholicism, Baptist, Orthodox, Pentecostal, and Jehovah's Witnesses. The main difference between these are whether or not they believe in the trinity, whether or not there is a soul, and what happens to the soul after death if there is one. Monasteries are not used in most divisions because there is the idea that a person can communicate with God through prayer at any time or place.
