It ranges anywhere from 500-1000 kbit/ per second.

Ask your cable TV company about cable modems and where you could purchase one.

A cable modem will cost anywhere from 100-300 dollars.

It will cost anywhere from $40-$50 a month.

You can watch TV and still serve the internet. But you must subscribe to cable TV separately.

A DSL is like a cable modem, but not cable related and works just as good.

There is a one way cable modem that works similar to satellite systems as the cable modem is only used to receive data, while you will still need a regular phone modem to send data. These systems are often used by smaller or rural cable systems that don't want to spend all the money necessary to make the cable system two-way capable.

The cable modem signal will run down the same wire as the cable TV signal. Actually, the cable modem signal will basically just require one TV channel to be set aside for it. Sometimes however, the old cable TV line may be damaged and needs to be replaced to provide a better signal quality.

You could even use it on the road just leave the cable modem at home. Your cable modem will not work in other cable systems. Each cable modem has to be registered with the local cable system. Even if it is owned by the same company.

Personally I think people with cable should have cable modems hooked up in their homes.
