6. LTE PTA Membership Meeting REPORT FROM THE FINANCIAL RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE Committee Report – 2013-2014 fiscal year –Julie Fergerson –Dao Tien Tran –Michelle Dent Copies available upon request. 9 September 2014

7. Recommendations Recommendations to improve overall savings to teachers and members - Julie Fergerson –Pay State Taxes on Time (fines for late payments exceeded total amount owed last year) –Better Education and provide cards to assist PTA members and teachers on using Tax Exempt ID (hundreds of dollars paid by teachers and PTA members for taxes) –Order in advance, lots of rush fees

9. Observations Recommendation on Class t-shirts - Julie Fergerson –Recycle t-shirts each year going forward. It takes 200 gallons of water to grow the cotton for a t-shirt. Class t-shirt sales “break even”, t-shirts costs $4.99 and parents are charged $8. Audit Committee: We recommend this be disclosed going forward to the PTA membership.

10. Notes - Julie Fergerson While the PTA binder recommends a significant amount be saved each year, the audit committee felt the PTA should only have in savings 3x operating expenses ($10,000), instead of the $50,000+ saved each year. It seems excessive, we all have experience on non-profit boards. The 2013-2014 budget does not match what was spent.

11. Notes: Membership- Julie Fergerson Membership list was not up to date. Dues are not supposed to be counted as income/expense. Lots of misc. notes in audit report We reconciled to bank statements, but the financial statement is missing, there was a P&L Statement.

14. LTE PTA Membership Meeting REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD (continued) –The board was informed that the Financial Reconciliation (audit) was complete but the final report was not yet received. As of Sept 8 th the report has been received and the board is reviewing it, correcting any errors, and considering recommendations. –As a result of the Financial Reconciliation report we would like to postpone the approval of the 2014-2015 Budget until the next membership meeting on October 14. This month a continental breakfast is being coordinated for teachers and staff on September 19 th A Coffee Social was held today for newcomers and parents to meet the principal and our PTA board and find out how they could get involved. 9 September 2014
